Rapid prototyping is what the FIRST Robotics competition is all about. Each year we design, build, and test a robot that plays a difficult game, such as soccer or tag-on-ice. Oh, and did we mention that all this is done in just 42 days?


Science, Technology, & Teamwork... to a whole new level

At 120 pounds and capable of moving up to 10 feet per second, each of our Robots exemplifies of our high workmanship standards. "Draw twice, cut once" reflects our dedication to precision in the design and engineering process. Through our robotics program, students are exposed to modern technologies like PID (proportional-integral-derivative controllers), automation, and vision-guided tracking. State-of-art tools, such as LabVIEW, are used to deploy our own homemade robot software. The construction of such advanced robots in a short amount of time demands a highly coordinated team management system. Students discover how to collaborate effectively in groups to tackle tough problems in mechanical engineering and computer science.


Not an engineer? Not a problem

You don't need any experience to participate in Robotics. Learn how to build a computer from scratch. Pick up some C++ programming. Lead a corporate presentation. There's a whole bunch of projects you can partake in, and that's just during the build season!

Ultimately, we hope to prepare our members for the rapidly advancing fields of science, technology, and business in the world. To apply for membership, print and complete the 2010-2011 application form and submit to Mr. Williams in room 609. If you have any questions, feel free to email us!

Please fill out and staple all forms below (except the membership form, which you fill out online) together and return to Mr. Williams room (Rm. 608). All forms are required for membership in CHS Robotics.

Application fees are $45 for new members and $60 for returning members, in cash or check payable to Cupertino High School Robotics. However, we believe that no person should be held back from joining due to financial reasons. Please see Mr. Williams for scholarship oppurtunities. (Rm. 608)

Applications are due by October 7. Late submissions require a $5 penalty fee.
