Robot ProfilesCHS Robotics builds generations of robots named "Dusty," essentially a name that stuck once it was given. Dusty also happens to be the name of our pioneer mascot. The robot pulls the school Spirit Bell across the gym during the Hall of Fame Rally.Dusty IIIDusty III competed in the 2010 FRC game "Breakaway", which consisted of alliances playing a modified game of soccer with goals on the corners of the playing field. Dusty III was designed with durability in mind, having a well-nested computer frame and a ball-kicking 'foot'. For the 2010 Cal Games, Dusty was equipped with side-kickers and a spinning brush to hold the balls.Dusty IIDusty II competed in the 2009 FRC game "Lunacy", where alliances of Robots attempted to score balls into trailers dragged by opposing robots, all taking place on a low-friction playing field. Dusty II proved to be a formidable pinning robot on the field. For the 2009 Cal Games, the entire top manipulator was improved so that it could pick up balls and spit them out again.Dusty IDusty I, our first robot, competed in the 2008 FRC game "Overdrive", which involved the manipulation of large 'trackballs' over and under overpasses while alliances of robots completed laps around the playing field. Dusty I was equipped with a teloscopic lift to knock balls off of the 6-foot overpass. |
